Broadcast: Tuesday 12th May 2009.
The guests were Miguel Cardoso and Seamus Malone.
The question Miguel asks is what kind of person is assumed to be the subject of advertisements for hotel rooms that declare their rooms contain abstract painting? Who is this person interpellated by ‘abstracticity’, and is this modernist painting project only evincing its ghost in these places of transient habitation?
The show was hosted by Seph Rodney.
Guest biographies:
Miguel Cardoso is a frustrated political activist, checking his impatience by pouring himself
into literary studies, looking to dismantle some objects that seem to require it. He was born in Lisbon, Portugal and first arrived in the UK as an exchange student for a term at Portsmouth. He quickly became cognizant that London was a much better place to spend his time and has completed an MA degree at Birkbeck and is in the process of writing his PhD on the criticism and frameworks for understanding abstract painting.
